The AWA, originally founded as the American Women’s Club and known today as the American Welcome Association, has been serving Americans living in and around New Delhi since 1947. Membership is open to all U.S. citizens (and their spouses) and entitles them to participate in all services and activities sponsored by the AWA. We encourage and enable members to serve others and volunteer to enrich our experiences and the lives of others in incredible India.
Objectives:
The AWA's Outreach Committee, launched in 1982 as our social services arm, solicits, reviews and discusses proposals from charitable organizations within New Delhi-NCR (shelters, schools, clinics, etc.) requesting specific types of support. After conducting a site visit and assessment, the committee strives to address its needs within the scope of AWA’s goals and guidelines. NGO partners with merchandise for sale are also invited to participate at the AWA Winter Mela.
